About Our Pastor

Rev. M. Lloyd Guyton, affectionately known as Malcolm, was born to Rev. Melvin & Bernadette Guyton on March 28, 1978, in Elizabeth, NJ. Malcolm has two brothers, Rev. Lanel D. and Kevin E. Guyton, and two sisters, Mrs. Betty Ruffins and Leah Guyton.

Malcolm’s talent was very apparent from birth as he expressed a love for music at a very young age. He began singing in the youth choir and from there he later went on to play the organ for his church. He also had a love for talking and it was obvious that he was going to be either a preacher or a politician.

Due to his father’s ministry, the family lived in many different locations. Malcolm spent all of his elementary education in Paterson, NJ. During these years, Malcolm expressed a desire to preach. While in Patterson, he attended Paterson Community Christian Schools, a Black Christian private school. It was here that he was influenced by the principal, Rev. Fred LaGuarde, a civil rights activist. After hearing the stories of the civil rights movement, Malcolm realized he wanted to help people over come oppression.

His father was assigned to another church and the family was moved to Madison, NJ where Malcolm was very involved in his school, Madison High School. In school, He was the first African American Freshman Class Pres., the President of the Afro-American Club, and, of course, an important part of the schools music department. He also was a delegate to New Jersey Boystate and represented his school and town on C‑SPAN national television.

He is a graduate of Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, where he received a Bachelors of Arts in Criminal Justice, with a concentration in Conflict Resolution. He matriculated at the Eastern Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, PA.

He is currently enrolled at the Interdenominational Theological Seminary in Philadelphia.
